Inspired by Eugenia Kim's Sunny Hat, this personalized beach hat is a bachelorette party go-to! Perfect for the bridal party and fun beach snaps. Personalize them for the bride and each bridal party member!
We had such a fun time wearing our hats for my sister in law Emily's bachelorette party in Ocean City!
What you will need:
- A beach hat- I found these at 5 Below
- Sequins- About 4 yards for each hat- I got mine from Jo Ann Fabrics
- Pom pom trim- 5 hats took about 4 yards, again from Jo Ann Fabrics
- Hot glue gun
- Pencil or disappearing ink marker - available at craft stores in sewing or quilt dept
Each hat takes about an hour to make.
The hats I found had pink trim already attached. It come of pretty easily, howver it left a pink line around the hat which had to be covered in ribbon.
Decide on the saying you would like to write on the hat. I chose 5 sayings: Mrs Smith- for the bride, rose all day, sip sip hooray, drunk in love and mermaid squad for the bridesmaids. Write your saying on the hat as a guide for the sequins using a light pencil or disappearing pencil/marker. Use the grooves in the hat as a guide to make the words the same height.
Use hot glue to secure the pom pom trim around the base of the hat. Fold the end of the ribbon over once to hide any loose ends.
Use the sequin trim to write your saying. The sequins are surprisingly bendable and can be turned fairly easily for the curves in the letters. I practiced the letters before I glued them down. Secure the ends of each ribbon by folding the loose threads under and securing with glue.
Ta da! Now you are beach ready!
